Germany: HRCB report presented at Amnesty’s event

On 14, November 2017, Amnesty International group 1216 Paderborn organized an event titled “Human Rights in Pakistan” in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The event included the sub-title “An affected person from Balochistan reports”. During the first part of the event, Mr. Friedrich Wichmann gave a presentation on Human rights violations in Pakistan and the second part of the event included a presentation by Adnan Baloch of Human Rights Council of Balochistan.

In the presentation Adnan Baloch briefed about the history of Balochistan conflict and it’s geography. Furthermore, he spoke about the current human rights situation and systematic human rights violations committed by the security forces in Balochistan. Adnan Baloch particularly mentioned the perpetrator, Frontiers corps (FC) which is committing gross human rights violation with total impunity.

He presented the evidence of the extra judicial killing of the abducted persons, including the ones whose dead bodies are found in the mass graves.

Adnan Baloch briefed the audience with the cases of recently abducted and forcibly disappeared information secretary of Baloch Human Rights Organization, Nawaz Atta and eight other students abducted in Karachi last month.

He added that the civilians in Balochistan suffer immensely from abuses committed by the security forces. People are usually being abducted during military operations and from the checkpoints scattered across the areas.

Adnan Baloch briefed about the failure of local judicial system, regarding the human rights abuses in Balochistan.

During the presentation Human rights phenomena such as Enforced Disappearances, Burning houses of the locals and erasing villages, Extra-Judicial Killings, Fake Encounters, Mass Graves and Silencing the Voices were the topics addressed to the audience.

Adnan Baloch stressed that main reason behind the impunity of security forces is the less concentration of international human rights organizations on the region and requested that organizations like amnesty shall initiate to investigate the cases of human rights violations in Balochistan. He offered the support of HRCB team in investigating the cases.

The event followed with a questions/answer session.
