Balochistan: 5 abducted persons killed in fake ‘encounter’ by Frontier Corps

On 27th of April 2017, Local Levies Force, a law enforcement force which mainly consists of local people, had received a call from Frontier Corps, a Paramilitary force having policing authority and consists of people from other languages and regions of Pakistan.

Phone call claimed some miscrents attacked the FC and are killed in encounter. Levies Force was commanded to go and collect the dead bodies in Mandig-Kaor, a river in Mand area of district Kech, a border town between Iran and Pakistan in Balochistan.

Five persons killed in ‘Encounter’ were identified as Master Baitullah, a school teacher and resident of Dazin village of tehsil Tump, around 60-70 KM away from the place they were said to be killed in todays ‘encounter’. Others were Asif Master Anwar, a resident of Kahnek village of Mand district Kech, Majid Majeed aka Noroz, a resident of Lebnan village of Mand, Sabir Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Goburd village of Mand and Jasim Rahim, resident of Gomazi Tump of the same region.

Baitullah, the said ‘commander of a militant organization, was involved in recent attacks on Frontier Corps’, reported Dawn, an English language newspaper from Pakistan some hours after the incident, quoting the Deputy Commissioner of the district Kech.

On 17th of June, 2015, an Urdu language newspaper published a news which says, “In a combined operation of Frontier Corps and the Secret Agencies, a (militant) commander is arrested along with four persons”. The news further mentions that the name of the commander is Baitullah and ‘arms and literature was found from them”. It says, ‘Baitullah, the commander had a very important role in organizing terror attacks in the region.’”

Baitullah was abducted from the main bazar of Dazin Tump, the place he lives in by Frontier Corps on 17th of June 2015 and was in custody of the Frontier Corps till now. Asif Anwar Ali, a tailor by profession was forcefully disappeared by security forces from Karachi on 1st of December 2016. 22 years old Majid Majeed aka Noroz was picked up by security forces on 2nd of February 2017 from Gulshan e Mazdur, Karachi. Young student Sabir Ghulam Hussain was picked up from his house, Goburd Mand on 16th of November 2016 and Jasim Rahim was picked up by Frontier Corps from the Grocery Store he worked in, in his village Tump, on 4th of January 2017.

All were reported as forcefully disappeared by several websites listing the missing persons of Balochistan.

This incident further increased fears in people of Balochistan, specially the families of the persons who are Forcefully Disappeared by Frontier Corps and other Law Enforcement Agencies and are still missing.
