Balochistan: 13 cases of enforced disappearance reported in last 10 days

Pakistan military has forcibly disappeared 13 people from different areas of Balochistan during the last 10 days.

Thousands of people have become victims of enforced disappearances since 2004 in Balochistan where military is engaged in counterinsurgency operations to curb a separatist armed struggle by Baloch nationalist groups.

On April 25, security forces abducted Yousif Sayakki, during a military operation in Drammakol, Pidark. On the same day, forces abducted Abdul Ghani Amin and Mohammad Ishaq Mohammad Omar from Lop area of Balgatar district Kech.

On April 24, Pakistani security forces forcibly disappeared 22 years old Imdad Ghaus Bakhsh from Gramkan, district Panjgur. A group of armed men affiliated with a local “death squad” allegedly sponsored by the military is said to be behind Imdad’s abduction.

Imdad is nephew of advocate Kachkol Ali, an ex-minister, former opposition leader of Balochistan Assembly and a senior member of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), a nationalist party which campaigns for the right to self-determination for the people of Balochistan.

On April 21, military abducted Faiz Jan and Mohammad Jan during a military operation in Hirronk area of Turbat, district Kech.

On the same day, forces raided a house in Essai Kalat, district Panjgur and abducted Abdul Rasheed from his house.

On April 19, the personnel of intelligence agencies abducted Ibrahim Abdul Rahim resident of Dasht district Kech from main bazar of Gwadar, district Gwadar.

On the same day, forces abducted Sherjan Saleh Mohammad, Mohammad Bakhsh Anwar and Fazal Wahid Bakhsh during a raid in Pirandar area of district Awaran.

On April 18, Zakir Mohammad Karim, a farmer was abducted by forces from Jamk area of Kashap, Dasht district Kech.

On April 17, forces abducted Sanaullah Raheem during a military operation in Kashap, Dasht district Kech.

Shareef Baloch resident of Mand district Kech was released on 26 April 2018. Security forces abducted him during a raid on his house in Mand district Kech on 2 December 2017. He is the brother-in-law of senior Baloch National Movement activist Abid Hussain.
